Essay / Compare and contrast the religious beliefs of Thomas Jefferson
He was founded in Palestine by the disciples of Jesus, who Christians believe to be the Son of God. The central teachings of traditional Christianity are those of the Trinity, which encompasses God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prediction of the Messiah and that his life on earth, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension into heaven are evidence of God's love for humanity and forgiveness of God for human sins. Christians also believe that through faith in Jesus one can achieve salvation and eternal life. These sacred beliefs come from the Bible, more precisely from the New Testament. Furthermore, Christians also accept the Old Testament as a fearful scripture. Early missionaries of Christianity spread its teachings to various places, such as: Asia Minor, Alexandria, Greece and Rome. Today, Christian missions remain a major element. Christianity could be defined in several distinct ways. There are many different forms of worship, many understandings of the role of structured clergy, and many variations in political and church organizations within the country.
