Deep-Linking: Advantages and DisadvantagesIntroductionDeep links are a useful tool that helps the reader navigate to specific information of interest. There are many issues and concerns. related to this feature that must be considered before allowing deep links by external entities or accepting any deep links. In order to understand all the issues, let's define deep-linking and understand how deep-linking works. Deep-linking consists of publishing a hypertext link from the interior page of a site to the page of another site (Bray, 2003). In other words, by clicking on the deep link hyperlink, the reader will be transferred from the current page of the website directly to the linked inner page of another site, ignoring its home page. It is very important to note that the URL becomes the linked URL when a person is transferred to the linked page (Linking, Framing and Metatags, 2007). Pros and Cons Using deep linking has many benefits for both users. and website owners. It helps readers or users save time by taking them directly to the information they are interested in on another site. Most of the time, it is very difficult to locate the information you are looking for from the main page or home page of the site. This is why deep links are more useful than generic links that direct users to the home pages of other sites (Nielsen, 2002). At the same time, allowing deep linking by external entities will increase the page ranking and improve the website's position in search engines. This will also increase the flow of traffic to the website (Webmaster Tools, 2011). There are also some drawbacks...... middle of paper ...... accessible to people who are interested in it, and deep links are a great tool to achieve this goal. Works cited Bray, T.
