How would you feel if the right to choose to vaccinate your child was taken away from you? What happens if, after receiving their vaccines, the child contracts a serious illness or even dies because of the vaccines? Many cases have shown adverse effects in children who have received regular or mandatory series of vaccinations throughout their lives. Throughout our lives, we introduce foreign particles and chemicals into our bodies by receiving vaccinations required by our job or school. These vaccinations begin from the moment we are born and continue until the day we die. Not only are we not allowing our bodies to develop immunity, but we are also traumatizing our children by making them receive regular injections. There are many reasons why vaccinations should not be mandatory, but the most important are the number of vaccinations, their ineffectiveness and their side effects. The number of vaccinations a child receives in the first six years of life has increased significantly. According to “Vaccine Controversies” by Kathy Koch, “Today, an American child receives up to 39 doses of 12 different vaccines, most administered during the first two years of life. And unlike previous decades, today’s young people receive multiple vaccinations on the same day” (643). These Twelve Different VaccinationsThe number of vaccinations a child must receive is overwhelming for both the child and the parent. They will also receive boosters and other vaccines throughout their lives. Ineffective vaccinations may also be a factor in choosing a parent. Side effects are the main concern parents have when deciding whether or not to vaccinate their children. Not everyone believes vaccinations are helpful; it should be up to parents to choose whether their child should be
