Essay / Descriptive Essay on Skiing - 735
I had heard that the weather called for plenty of dry powder snow. Knowing that I had never experienced a powder day until now, I was skeptical of the forecasted weather. My doubts were put to rest, however, when we woke up the next day to see over a foot of new powder snow falling. As I hit the slopes, I immediately noticed that the powder surface was new to me. You couldn't cut as well and the skis didn't bite until they hit the packed snow a foot below. As you skied you had to focus more on the placement of your feet so as not to cross your skis, you also had to lift the back of your skis so the edge dug more into the powder surface. Being exhausted on my first run and trying to get used to the new surface, I wasn't sure if I liked the type of snow everyone was talking about.
