One of the most terrible effects is that music destroys black women's self-perception, making it difficult for young black women to "demonstrate personal pride" (Henry, West, and Jackson 245). “The widespread perception of black women is based on dominant misogyny” and because it is the main social norm and a way for black youth to be unified “[Black women] accept stereotypical views and unconscious behaviors who devalue women and esteem men. ”(Henry, West, and Jackson 245).
