  • Essay / Cassandra Teacher Ms. Perez - 762

The teacher understood that everything was fine. Earlier this year, Cassandra was able to use picture clues when she was having trouble reading a story. Ms. Perez helped Cassandra with her reading in different ways. Cassandra was able to learn to read fluently because the teacher used guided reading, partner reading, and independent reading with Cassandra. Cassandra was able to progress because she was influenced by practicing with books she knew and with books she didn't know very well. She also did activities that strengthened her reading, such as learning to mix words. The way Ms. Perez worked with Cassandra really helped Cassandra at the end of May because Cassandra was able to use strategies when she read. For example, Cassandra was able to pronounce words, self-correct when reading, and use picture cues to pronounce words. Also at the end of the school year, Cassandra was able to combine reading with writing.
