Essay / Art and Its Underestimated Potential - 2194
Art is everywhere, like it or not, and can be appreciated in the smallest of ways. It is absolutely necessary for the growth of a society and its inhabitants. Today, businesses mainly use it to gather people's opinions about their business or to sell a product. For example, if you go to the market and buy a gallon of milk, the first thing you will see on that gallon is a picture of a cow or the same milk poured into a glass in a way that captivates the eye and makes you think "wow, that looks awesome!" This is the most common use of visual art today and often causes people to miss what it actually means (Why Art Matters, 1). Advertising is one of the most important areas of visual arts and shapes the way we view a product as well as the choices we make based on that judgment. This is where the illusion of making visual arts into a potentially harmful thing comes from. The illusion comes from what is true and what is invented or “altered truth”. A company could make its product seem much better than it really is by tricking people into buying it. An example is when you go to a fast food restaurant and see signs of perfect sandwiches when in reality they don't look like that. Most people don't see any illusion, but when they do, it's hard for them to see the other side of things, those who don't "expand the truth." Today, people tend to consider this kind of advertising as normal. In fact, it kind of helps improve morale by making things seem worth it and just more enjoyable. The arts therefore constitute the very “soul” of a successful business. What is more important than art? The artist of course, because without them neither would exist. Unfortunately, people don't care... middle of paper ..., they improve social skills as well as social image, and they improve psychological health (Why Art Matters, 1). The arts also increase perception and appreciation of life and what it contains (Why Art Matters, 1). Art is everywhere around us, everywhere we go and everywhere we look. It helps us understand where we are, where we are going, and how we get there. Preserving history relies heavily on art to preserve the sights, sounds, writing, and all sorts of other elements of the past, so I guess you could say that recorded history is of art (Social Impact of Art, 8). It helps break down multiracial and multicultural boundaries by creating connections between people from all over the world (How Art Impacts Society, 6). The arts, as well as the artist, are very important in today's society and should be appreciated for what they are and what they have done for us..
