Suze Orman was born on June 5, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, to a Jewish family. Suze earned a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1976. She later received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from the same university. Orman moved to Berkeley, California and worked as a waitress after finishing school.
