Essay / Nirvana, a rock band formed by Kurt Cobain - 909
One of my favorite bands of all time is Nirvana, because they were the first rock band I started listening to in age twelve and that established my taste in music to this day. However, they also had a great influence on their contemporary pop-rock music industry in the early 90s. Despite only releasing three studio albums in seven years, Nirvana is often considered one of the the most influential, effective and remarkable rock groups of the century. This trio from Seattle burst into the public consciousness in 1991 with their single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" full of pure, raw emotion, which was new at the time. Nirvana was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Over the course of their career, they had six drummers. Dave Grohl, who joined the group in 1990, has been the most enduring. They released their debut album Bleach in 1989; They thus established themselves as part of the Seattle grunge scene. They often used calm verses with heavy, very loud choruses and these dynamic contrasts became typical of Nirvana. As I mentioned before, full popularity and success came after the release of the first single, "Smells Like Teen Spirit", from their second album Nevermind. Singer Kurt Cobain said that the reason he wrote the song was because he felt "disgusted by the apathy of my generation, as well as my own apathy and spinelessness." Krist Novoselic also added, "Kurt really despised the mainstream. That's what 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' is about: the mentality of mass conformity." Kurt Cobain quickly realized that in the media he was considered the "spokesperson for a generation." and the group was often referred to as the "flagship group of...... middle of paper...... taken to the hospital due to a drug overdose. The bad news had reached him at the rehabilitation center. Kurt Cobain's body was found by a visiting electrician days after the suicide. At first, the worker thought he saw a mannequin on the ground until he recognized the blood. Kurt Cobain's body lay on the ground, the gun still pointed at his chin. He also left a farewell letter addressed to his wife and his one and a half year old daughter. The note ended with the words "I love you, I love you." Two days later, about 5,000 people arrived in Seattle for a candlelight vigil. The crowd sang and listened to the tape where Courtney Love read aloud the farewell letter and, due to their anger, they fought with the police. They were very desperate. After this unfortunate event, several distressed teenagers in the United States and Australia committed suicide..
