Thesis: Edgar Allen Poe was an American poet, writer, editor, critic, and thrill seeker. He has influenced many great writers and poets, some have made award-winning films. from the stories they wrote and continue to do.Introduction: Edgar spent many years writing and learning about American literature. He simply loved writing, which is why he did so many different things in the writing profession. He influenced many famous writers etc. he is therefore a very influential man and his name remains a legendBiography:Paragraph 1: Edgar Allen Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts (January 19, 1809 - October 7, 1849) He had a sister (Rosalie) and a brother (Henry) his parents were David and Elizabeth Poe, his mother died in 1811 and his father went to live with his grandparents while Edgar was adopted by his "godfather" John Allan and his wife, they did not have a children .Paragraph 2: When Edgar was 6 years old, he went to live in England and there he went to school for 5 years. He later returned to America in 1826 and attended the University of Virginia. Even though his father had a lot of money, he only gave Edgar about a third of what he needed. Edgar soon found himself in debt and began drinking heavily and gambling. He left school for less than a year. He did quite well, he retained his rank of sergeant major and they changed his name from Edgar Allan Poe to Edgar Allan Perry, after the death of his adoptive mother John Allan bought his release and sang his candidate at West Point before starting in the army, he wrote "Al Aaraaf"....... middle of paper ...... ancial way. In 1844, Poe returned to New York, he and his family moved into a cottage on what is now East 192nd Street. Virginia's health deteriorated and she died in 1847. After all the depression, he fell again. Paragraph 3: In June 1849, Poe left New York. and returning to Philadelphia, he left Philadelphia in July and returned to Richmond, he joined "The Sons of Temperance" in an effort to quit drinking, he reunited with Sarah Shelton and planned to marry her in October . On September 27 he left Richmond again for New York, went to Philadelphia, and stayed with James P. Moss, a friend. On the 30th he went to New York, but allegedly took the wrong train to Baltimore. On October 3, Edgar was found in the Gunners' lobby and taken to hospital. He was unconscious but they never found out what really happened to him. Edgar Allan Poe died on a Sunday, October 7 1849..
