Essay / Nature and Nature: Do Humans Control Nature - 1354
I just lived my life and didn't care about the choices I made. However, the daily choices we make truly define which side of the debate we are on. If someone calls themselves ecocentric, but drives a giant vehicle using fossil fuels, they are not really ecocentric. Although for most students, myself included, I simply drive the car my parents give me without question; However, as we age and have our own jobs, the choices we make with our money will define us. For me, the answer won't be environmentally focused, but that doesn't mean I'm going to drive around in a Hummer using all fossil fuels. I think that's really how most people are. The consequences of their actions never occur to them. They live their lives on their own terms, and I don't think that's a bad thing. I don't think it's anyone's job to tell people what choices they should make. As far as my life goes, I'm going to keep driving the car I want, keep buying plastic grocery bags, and keep getting cool air in the summer and heat in the summer.
