Mother Teresa once said: “The greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child. .. The direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell others not to “kill each other” (“Quotes”). I vehemently oppose abortion because I believe it is a practice of killing the weakest and most defenseless among us for personal pacification. Abortion has many perspectives and controversial issues in itself. Three of the most important issues supporting opposition to abortion include the legalization of abortion, when human life begins, and what life would be like without abortion. Currently, abortion is legal in the United States. The legalization of abortion became clearly defined in 1973, when the United States Supreme Court issued its decision in Roe v. Wade (“Abortion: Update”). The government defends its judgment to approve abortion by declaring that abortion is a woman's individual right, a right to her life, to her liberty and to the pursuit of her happiness which enshrines her right to have an abortion ("Abortion : update "). However, what is not mentioned by the government is the most important factor, namely the rights of the baby. These rights belong to all citizens, regardless of age, so the fetus should enjoy the same rights as any other human being. If we consider the rights of the fetus, abortion actually goes against the rights of the fetus, which is why the government should make abortion illegal. Nonetheless, many pro-life advocates argue that a fetus is not yet a living human being and therefore should not be afforded the same rights as humans.
