Essay / A Brief History of Engineering - 681
When you look around you, you see all kinds of modern wonders. None of these would be possible without engineering. Engineering has shaped human lives for thousands of years; it is simply the application of science and mathematics to invent or innovate an object to meet a human need. Recently, computer engineering has become the basis of the human world. We rely on computers as if they were water or air, and we've gotten to the point where they could be a necessity for success. Computers are used for images, data, development, research, design and much more. The simple fact that humanity has thrived for so long without advanced computers is astonishing. Essay Engineering has existed since the earliest ages of man. The wheel was a product of primitive engineering, just like the light bulb and the telephone. Engineering has served many developing countries and helped those in need. For example, prosthetic arms serve those who lack the necessary limbs, the WaterWheel, created by Wello, helps people in developing countries because they carry large amounts of water. Engineering has evolved since the dawn of time. Most engineers achieved success through trial and error. Thomas Jefferson, for example, failed several times before creating the light bulb that made him famous. Another popular trial and error procedure is the scientific method. Most researchers use the scientific method in order to obtain a positive or negative result. These days, engineering has been reduced to something less than simple. This is still a difficult and time-consuming process, but it has been made much more efficient. Smaller and smaller innovations and inventions are being made. Small, portable, paper-thin microscopes, waterwheels and devices that can display your...... middle of paper ...... product would be if Wello decided to make its waterwheel into a robot that carries water back and forth daily. Wello has a great opportunity for success. The water wheel already works well, it just needs more publicity. If more people knew about Wello and its mission, they could go a long way. They explain why engineering is so important. Engineering is just going to advance in the future and Wello is an example of current advancement. New technologies, robots and devices intended to help third world countries will help our society and improve the world. There are no limits to what engineering can do; Everything we thought was impossible is now a reality. The fact that there are universal phasers and translators is simply astonishing. What humanity has dreamed of can become what it counts on in the future..
