Essay / Richard Trenton Chase - 1326
“You are incredibly fast and strong. Your skin is pale and icy. Your eyes change color and sometimes you speak as if you're from another era. You never eat or drink anything. You don't go out in the sun..." (Bella, from the Twilight movie) At this point in the Twilight movie, Bella puts together the evidence that Edward Cullen is a vampire, but can vampires actually be real in real life ? All it really takes to be considered a vampire is the desire and urge to drink human blood. This article will tell you how vampires can be real to a certain extent. It all started on May 23, 1950 in Santa Clara County, California when a man named Richard Trenton Chase was born. Richard did not have the “typical” childhood that many others will have. He was beaten by both his parents and had to suffer listening to his parents fight constantly. When he was a child, there were many signs that he would become a criminal in the future. Some of these signs would be bedwetting, lighting fires for fun, and torturing animals. As a teenager, Chase took drugs and drank regularly. Chase started to become somewhat normal in high school when he ventured out and had a few girlfriends. The relationships didn't last as Chase soon discovered he was incapable of being aroused. Chase was told the root cause could be mental illness or anger issues. Even with the signs that Chase was suffering from a mental illness, the doctor still did not suggest admitting him to a psychiatric facility. Unfortunately, Chase didn't do anything with this information either. It was later discovered that the only way Chase could receive arousal or orgasm was by acting brutally towards animals... middle of paper ... the title given to him was "Dracula's Killer". Chase gained some fame thanks to his title and the crimes he committed. In 1992, a movie called "Unspeakable" was released and the killer in the movie was based on Richard Trenton Chase. Chase was also mentioned in the first season episode "Blood Hungry" of the series Criminal Minds. Many TV shows and movies today take their ideas from dramatic events of the past and the crime committed by Richard Trenton Chase happens to be one of them. Works Cited Innes, Brian. Serial killers.
