Essay / The Walking Dead: An Analysis - 1065
The Walking Dead, a television show about survival in the world of zombies, is based on the comic book of the same name created by Robert Kirkman. In this show, Rick Grimes, a sheriff's deputy, wakes up from his coma and finds himself in the hospital. He soon discovers that while he was in a coma, the world had been infected, turning humans into flesh-eating zombies later called Walkers by the characters. As Rick sets off in search of his family, he meets many other survivors such as Glenn, Daryl, Carl, Maggie, Carol, Sasha, Hershel, Beth and Michonne, among many others who died along the way. Rick and the survivors have gone through a lot throughout the series, like having to move from location to location to avoid being eaten by walkers. After traveling a long way, they finally find refuge in a former prison where they now live. Although The Walking Dead shows a lot of violence, it sends many positive messages to viewers that teach them about survival, religion, and betrayal and how each of them can be beneficial in the real world. One message the series sends to its viewers is survival; you have to do everything you can to survive, but while trying to survive, you can also offer help to those who are trying to do the same. In several scenes, Rick and the group are seen hunting animals and entering abandoned houses to find supplies: medicine, food, and weapons. The actions taken by the characters in entering abandoned houses and hunting animals indicate that since there are almost no stores nearby to obtain food or medicine, they must now hunt and find their own drugs. Another example of how this series sends a message of survival is when Rick, Michonne, young katana-wielding black women, and Rick's son Carl go in search of food for Judith, R.... .. middle of paper. .... those who watch it. It's beneficial because it teaches viewers how to survive in the zombie world, should that ever happen, and teaches them how to determine if others are in desperate need of help. Viewers will also learn that in desperate times, no matter what happens, some people will turn to religion or cling to it because it is the only thing they believe will help guide them through situations. difficult. The last thing viewers will learn while watching is that betrayal out of envy is dangerous, it can kill them or make them lose a friend because of it. Instead, viewers should cherish and be grateful for what they have and not envy others for what they don't have. Overall, The Walking Dead is beneficial because viewers will learn a lot of things just by watching and will be able to apply those things they learned from watching to help themselves or other people in the real world..
