    Physogyra lichtensteini is an endangered species that needs our help. There are many threats to the species, such as coastal development, pollution and trade. These threats are all caused by human actions. Throughout this article, I will discuss the threats to Physogyra lichtensteini and how humans can possibly reverse the threats to the species. The common name for Physogyra lichtensteini is pearl bubble coral. Physogyra lichtensteini is an invertebrate, meaning it does not have a backbone, and is part of the phylum Cnidaria. To be part of the phylum Cnidaria, the species must have stinging organelles, a mouth, and a basic digestive system. Physogyra lichtensteini lives in shallow tropical waters around the world. It is found in at least 83 countries. Trade in Physogyra lichtensteini and destructive fishing practices have endangered this already vulnerable species. Legally, 11,000 specimens of pearl bubble coral are allowed to be harvested per year, which has detrimental consequences for decreasing species numbers. In Indonesia alone, 10,500 pieces of live pearl bubble coral have been released. To protect the species from extinction, countries should ban the harvest and trade of the species. In addition to banning trade in pearl bubble coral, countries should make additional efforts to stop people who illegally harvest pearl bubble coral and other endangered corals. Destructive fishing practices such as cyanide fishing put all corals at risk. Fishermen spray cyanide between the coral spaces and on the fish to stun them. In doing so, it creates a cloud of toxic chemicals that are toxic to the organism around it. Coastal development must be closely monitored and the construction of objects on or above coral reefs must be prohibited. Physogyra lichtensteini must be preserved for future generations. In conclusion, Physogyra lichtensteini needs our help and we must do whatever it takes to ensure the survival of the species.
