    The Criminal MindWhen someone commits a crime, what happens in their mind? What drives them to commit murder or violent crime? There are many theories as to why criminals commit these heinous crimes. The behavior analyst examines why people commit crimes, what triggered a violent response, and how to prevent or predict these crimes from occurring in the future. The behavior analyst focuses on the following concepts to piece together a crime and understand why the criminal committed the crime. Behavioral science aims to achieve better insight into human behavior (Dictionay.com, nd). By understanding how a person thinks, you can integrate criminology and victimology with criminal profiling. Criminology is the focus of a crime and/or criminal (Dictionary.com, nd). In other words, what was going through the criminal's mind when he committed the crime? Victimology is the examination of victims and its psychological effects (Dictionary.com, n.d.). Often, criminals were once victims of the crimes they are now committing. The combination of behavioral sciences, criminology and victimology will allow the analyst to create a criminal profile. Profiling is a tool to analyze or investigate behavioral behavior in order to predict and profile the unknown offender (Dictionary.com, n.d.). For example, a murder has been committed.
