They did not know the land well and many people say that the only reason they survived was because a local Indian, named Squanto, helped them and taught them the ways of his people. Soon the settlers had completed much of their planting. Harvest time was here and changing the face of the separatist attitude. After such a harsh winter, the middle of paper time is always the fourth Thursday of each November to celebrate Thanksgiving. A small group of English separatists made a big difference today, changing the American way of life with a simple little harvest festival.
