Essay / Military Drone Issues - 816
Military Drone Issues The United States' fight against terrorism requires this nation to exert violence on its enemies. However, peace in foreign countries will not be achieved if America risks the lives of innocent civilians to assassinate its criminals abroad. Therefore, America must eliminate the use of drones in international strikes. Those who support the use of drones conclude that they have the least consequences for this nation. They will say that using drones for global attacks allows the United States to reduce its military damage and protect its troops from danger (Foust). Furthermore, they argue that the cost of military drones is lower than the cost of sending regular aircraft and soldiers to countries around the world (“Shaving Costs”). Finally, drone advocates will share their belief that drones are capable of striking with precision and reducing collateral damage to civilians around their area (Foust). Those who profess these ideas fail to take into account the terrible risks and dangerous effects that drones pose to their target lands and the pathetic citizens who reside there. By using drones in global assaults, the United States is setting a dangerous example for many other nations with similar situations. technology. Because America sends military drones instead of actual troops to areas like Pakistan and Yemen, it runs the risk of allowing its enemy countries to carry out similar strikes against its own home front (Benjamin). While the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel are the only world powers to currently possess armed drones, the United States' frequent use of these modernized arsenals will incentivize other countries to build their own military drones to threaten the security of our country in the years to come (Mulrine). This is already being seen in countries like...... middle of paper ...... where Obama administration officials have reported to the public that civilian casualties could be as low as single digits (SIHRCRC) . Meanwhile, journalists and even eyewitnesses prove this claim to be completely inaccurate thanks to data collected in the targeted countries. The United States should not be a country that risks the lives of harmless citizens. By killing innocent people, America creates many foreign enemies and violates the principle of security that it is supposed to defend. Terrorism poses an enormous danger to both the United States and the world at large. Yet America cannot combat this threat by putting the lives of those who need security and protection at risk. America's use of drones in attacks on foreign soil puts innocent people in danger and cannot continue. By ending international drone strikes, the United States will take a step in the right direction toward a more peaceful society..
