Assess recent trends in ethical considerations and social responsibilities of multinational corporations. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a concept by which organizations consider the welfare of the public by taking responsibility for the effect of their actions on all stakeholders; customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of their operations. This responsibility appears to extend beyond the legal obligation to comply with legislation and sees organizations voluntarily taking additional steps to improve the quality of life of employees and their families as well as the local community and community. society as a whole. The role of CSR has become significantly increased over the years due to an influx of social consciousness among the general public and also the government. The demand for more ethical business processes and actions, known as ethicism, is increasing. At the same time, there is pressure on the industry to improve business ethics through new public initiatives and laws. The recent trend saw an increase in the number of CSR reports submitted between 2002 and 2005. In 2005, 52% of G250 companies and 22% of N100 companies published reports.[1]The practice of CSR makes the subject of much discussion and criticism. Some argue that CSR makes a strong business case, as companies gain advantage in multiple ways by operating from a broader perspective than simply making an immediate, short-term profit. However, critics argue that CSR can distract from the core economic function of businesses, others dispute that it is nothing more than superficial window dressing.
