    In the novel Brave New World by Aldus Huxley, brainwashing was used in the form of hypnopaedia also known as sleep teaching. Hypnopedia is similar to the form we use in modern television. Huxley uses hypnopaedia in the novel Brave New World to control the thoughts of society. Modern television uses subliminal messages to tell the viewer when they see product A, buy product B. Huxley used this in his book using a subliminal message to give purpose in life to certain classes of humans. The whole purpose of hypnopaedia is to have control over the thoughts of society. Hypnopedia is used in Brave New World to give humans purpose. Hypnopedia, also known as sleep teaching, is used to teach people what work they would do down to what emotions they would feel.
