While one may say that the United States is the highest power in the world and therefore there is a balance of power, others may say that the United States appears to be the dominant power only because it have the most resources and influence compared to other nations. Realists agree that attention should be paid to large countries because they have the most influence in the world. The term balance of power had to be adopted after the devastating Napoleonic Wars.
