Speech on Male and Female RolesGood afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining me to talk about a very controversial issue today! Should men and women return to their natural place in society? My answer to this question is no! A natural position? Why do we call this sexism a “natural position”? The only reason men were considered superior to women is because of their bodily strength. And who said brawn or brain was better, anyway? Before, women were expected to stay at home, clean, cook and raise their children. And men were expected to work, come home, and wait for their dinner on the table. Even today in society there is a barrier between men and women, maternity and paternity leave, divorce settlements and professional status are some examples. Where would we be today without Marie Curie who discovered the element radium? Which opened the door to profound changes in the way scientists viewed matter and energy and also found cures for many dangerous diseases. Or Hedy Lamarr who was a glamorous actress, who went on to invent secret military communications systems and a precision torpedo satellite system that played an immense role in winning World War II. Without these women and countless others, many people would have died, and their descendants would not be here today.======================= ====================== ========================== If the women were to return to work hard at home, there would also be a huge loss of employees. Housework can be extremely tiring and depressing. It has been proven in a recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Glasgow that the link between depression and household chores is clear. If a mother is depressed, she will not take good care of her children. Additionally, women now have equal opportunities in education, thereby increasing working standards in the country.
