Poems can say many things, mean many things and represent many things. You may read a poem thinking that it is about flowers in a field, but if you look at it from a deeper perspective, it may be about someone's depression or a problem that the author wishes to address. There can also be many other questions or ideas discussed in a single line of poetry, depending on how you approach it. The poem Dante's Inferno is a poem describing Dante's journey through hell. It describes hell in nine different circles, each having different punishments for different sins. For example, if you murdered your neighbor, you would drown in a pool of blood for eternity. However, the particular passage that will be discussed is the “Standing on Your Feet” passage from song twenty-four. This piece of the poem is divided into four stanzas: “Get up! Now is not the time to get tired! » / my Master cried. “The man who sleeps / will never awaken glory and his desire - and his whole life passes before him like a dream, / and the traces of his memory fade from time / like smoke in the air or ripples of a stream. —Now then, get up.
