Mississippiville is one of the best cities in the country. It's also like most cities in the United States that have their share of problems. As I look back over the last four years in the City of Mississippiville, it is clear to me that there are several problems with the police department and community relations. The lack of leadership from the police department and other officials has given the community an “us versus them” mentality. I, Phillip Norton, will get to the bottom of the problems holding this city back and restore it to the city it should be. In addition, the main challenge for me and for the mayor is to gain the trust of the residents of this city. Over the past several years, the community has felt like it has not been protected or served by the Mississippiville Police Department. Among other issues, race and mistreatment will also be addressed and we will regain the integrity of this city. My next challenge as Mississippiville's chief will be to examine the management structure of the police department. Routine complaints from officers who have left the Mississippiville Police Department will also be addressed. Mistreatment of female employees and failure to comply with federal law are just some of the issues I will address and resolve. When looking at past complaints from this police department, it was not organized and structured. They chose not to follow the law like most police departments. They violated many regulations and many officers' rights due to the unbalanced structure of this service. There have also been cases where officers should have been disciplined for inappropriate actions and the department decided not to do so. Every police officer on the force will have a vital role in community service and maintaining order. The Mississippiville Police Department will ensure that all officers receive full benefits, including health care and dental care. Federal policies will also be enforced and I will ensure that all officers know all the details of each. It is very important that officers have a place to go if they need mental or physical help. Becoming a police officer is a very stressful job, and it is something that officers will be constantly reminded of if they actually need this help.
