TEAM SPORT ASSIGNMENTThere are both advantages and disadvantages of being part of a team sport. For this assignment, I have listed the pros and cons below, giving a brief but detailed description of each reason given for both sides of the argument. Advantages: • teaches interdependence • teaches cooperation • there is always a substitute when someone is injured or tired • there is less pressure (people are not always looking at you). Friendship Playing sports allows you to create friendships you might not have made otherwise. Sport brings together teenagers from different schools, backgrounds and communities. Often, the friendships you create on the field remain intact even when you're not playing sports. Creating a team is a great way to bring together individuals who share a common sporting interest. Team sports are a great way to make new friends and share a common interest.ParticipationTeam sports mean involvement and participation in an activity that keeps one fit and allows a person to make good use of of his free time. Playing sports helps teenagers physically, socially and mentally. Participating in a sports team can improve school connections, social support, and connections between friends and teammates. CommitmentBeing part of a team sport shows members' commitment and dedication to an activity. This allows the team member to learn how to engage not only in team sports, but also in life in general. Going to practices, games and meetings and showing dedication to a team you are a part of is vital. Athletes build character through their participation in sporting activities. Health Benefits We all know the health benefits of sport. Creating a team is a great way to share with others the benefits of exercise that requires being physically fit, but also mentally and emotionally fit and balanced. This is where yoga helps: the postures, breathing techniques and meditation. PAIN PREVENTION Yoga is known for its great health benefits, and one of the most important is pain prevention. Increased flexibility and strength can help prevent the causes of certain types of back pain. Many people with back pain spend a lot of time sitting at a computer or driving a car because they always sit in the same position; a position that improves neither your posture nor your health. This can cause tightness and compression of the spine, which you can treat slowly and gradually with yoga. Yoga also improves your alignment, both in and out of class, which helps prevent many other types of pain. Yoga exercises focus on posture while sitting or standing, and can actually prevent back pain or injury..
