Essay / Ancient Japan - 1169
Ancient Japan, the land of the Rising Sun, was a miraculous civilization in East Asia. Even though the culture of ancient Japan is thousands of years old, no one can ever forget its distinctive traditions and history over time. I have featured ancient Japan in this report because its society had now combined its ancient customs with our modern innovations. This fascinating civilization also consisted of unique clothing, food, and customs in their everyday lives. In this essay, I will explain to you what the beautiful country of Japan looked like around 12,014 years ago. Japan was made up of numerous islands in the Pacific Ocean off the northeastern coast of Asia and measured 1,865 miles (3,000 kilometers) from north to south. Additionally, the widest point in Japan was only 402 kilometers wide. To the west of Japan were China and Korea, and far away to the east of Japan were the United States and Canada. The total area of Japan was 145,000 square miles, which would be only one-twentieth the size of the United States. Although Japan was made up of more than 4,000 islands, most of its land area and population were concentrated in the four largest islands, which together would be about the size of California. Most of Japan's territory was mountains and only 17% of its land could be used for agricultural purposes. One of Japan's most difficult times was when the Japanese were at war. In 194, Kyoto Heian became the capital of Japan. In the Heian period, political power was held by the Fajiwara clan, which was later overpowered by the Taira clan, which was defeated by the Minamoto clan. Although the emperor remained in power in Kyoto, real power was transferred to Minamoto. ). The death penalty was often accompanied by collateral sanctions. One of them paraded the criminal through the city before his execution. Another problem was the public presentation of the criminal's execution. Finally, there was a public display of the severed head after the execution. In conclusion, everyone in Japan had either an easy or a hard life. Japan has a fascinating way of life from the beginning of the Jomon period to the end of the Yayoi period. I loved learning about their lifestyle and how their families took care of each other. After learning so much about ancient Japan, I realized that what seems normal to us may seem unusual to the Japanese. To conclude, ancient Japan is an exclusive civilization that we should know more about throughout history..
