    The achievement of gender equality is one of the most important movements for the progress of society. In the High Middle Ages, however, it was even more difficult to generate such sensitive debate. Christine de Pizan, a highly educated and religious woman, chose an unusual path for a woman of her time: becoming a writer to provide for her family. Christine's work, "The Treasure of the City of Ladies", could be considered feminist because it offered a broad vision of what the wife of an ideal artisan should be. According to Christine, the ideal artisan's wife was that a woman's abilities would be best put to use in her daily life through the goodness of her actions. As a wife, the wife must be involved in her husband's work if she wishes.
