Essay / Evolution: This Should Be Taught in Schools - 1109
In the uncertainty of the modern world, there is a law that remains petrified in stone no matter what: “Things change with age ". Whether it's history, science, or even Pokémon, things change over time and this process is called evolution. The theory formulated by Charles Darwin is the belief that all organisms arose from the first creatures due to external factors (“NSTA…”). School boards around the world have accepted the theory of evolution as fact, making its presence in science classroom curricula essential. However, over the years, controversy has arisen as evolution is still just a theory with flaws and setbacks, effectively making other theories (e.g. intelligent design) a viable alternative in the classroom. The law, on the other hand, took a different view of these other theories by repeatedly banning them from schools, declaring them opposed to the Second Amendment. Despite the bitter debate over whether or not it is valid for teaching (primarily alone), the theory of evolution proves to be the most reliable and accurate way to teach how the modern world is born. Science is purely a study of what can be seen and tested in the world. This concept is illustrated in the following quote: “Science is the method of testing natural explanations of natural explanations of natural objects and events. The phenomena that can be observed lend themselves to scientific investigation” (“NSTA…”). Understanding what science is is crucial because evolution is based on the changes people can observe in the organism. As it is a science (as it can be seen/tested), evolution is something that should be taught in schools. The proof that it can be seen and tested is a... middle of paper......arwin”. News week.
