  • Essay / Why the drinking age should be lowered to 18 - 865

Lowering the drinking age to 18 would make a lot of sense in the world. Lowering the drinking age to 18 would make more sense. This would be better for teenagers who drink on college campuses. The drinking age should be lowered to 18, as one can vote at eighteen, buy tobacco, this will reduce the thrill of breaking the law, evidence supports that early introduction of Alcohol consumption is the safest way to reduce alcohol abuse among young people, and students who are not 21 years old also drink. If teenagers who are now 18 can vote, then they should be able to drink when they turn 18. If teenagers are 18 and old enough to vote, they should be able to drink. To say that they can vote is to qualify them as responsible and mature enough to vote. At 18, teenagers are now called adults and vote. This is legal adulthood (“Drinking”). Voting requires many adult decisions. It's a tough choice to vote on that could help or make America worse. If they can defend our country, they should at least have a drink when they have time. 18 is old enough for the military and they are risking their lives. They are defending our country, so they should have the right to have a drink on the way home from work. This would reduce alcohol consumption among young adults and there would be no real rush to drink among minors. If they are trusted to drive, for example speeding, on the phone, reading, applying makeup, etc. How much harm is caused by just drinking, if all of this happens when people are driving. 19 of the 50 US states have not specified that the minimum drinking age is 21. Technically, there is no age limit for drinking. ("USA"). If you can buy tobacco at 18, they should be able to buy alcohol at that age. If people can buy tobacco at 18, they should be able to buy paper amid the meltdown, hassles and concerns about underage drinking. If other countries can have the drinking age lower than 21 and not have as many problems as the United States, then why not lower the age? Good things could happen if the age is not 21, but less.
