Essay / Saint Thomas Ajanas And Saint Peter Abelard, Saint Thomas...
The medieval synthesis refers to the understanding of men which allowed them to see the universe as an ordered place. These understandings refer to religious and philosophical aspects of the world. It also refers to the feeling that many things we experience in modern times are not actually united in perfect harmony. This synthesis was made between society and the Church and forms a vision of what is called the medieval synthesis. Classical thought was synthesized and reintroduced through the contributions and ideas of Peter Abelard, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Dante and the Cathedral of Chartes which influenced religious and philosophical aspects in the late Middle Ages. Religion was an important part of medieval society and development. of the medieval synthesis. An important figure who contributed to it was Saint Thomas Aquinas between 1225 and 1274. His “Summa Theologica” was an important element which influenced the synthesis. The Summa Theologica simply means theological summary. His idea presents the highest example of the medieval synthesis of faith and reason. The summary included proof of the existence of God and man. It describes the relationship between the two and how a man's reconciliation with the Divine is possible through Christ. This shows that Aquinas believed in the cosmological argument which shows evidence for the existence of God and his reason. Aquinas Summa Theologica also described the nature and purpose of the human being. He devoted his attention to the nature of God and his role which shows the relationship between God and man. Thomas Aquinas tried to explain the origin and purpose of the universe. He also tried to show the different roles that exist in the universe and their purpose. Thomas Aquinas never doubts...... middle of paper ......laces as they sin like Purgatory. It was there that he learned that without God, there would be no faith and purity in life. This made him understand that the universe is in shape and order. He discovered that the universe is made up of matter created by God. His writings present different situations that lead to great imagination about the connection between God and man. Dante discovered that the path to God is found in human life. Overall, Peter Abelard, St. Thomas Aquinas, Dante, and Chartres Cathedral all showed a world that placed faith and reason at the center of man's search for truth. Their ideas and contributions helped synthesize and reintroduce classical thought into the philosophical and religious aspects of the Middle Ages. They all showed that the universe is the reason for God's existence and that truth exists through God and his will..
