Women use romantic films as a form of catharsis, to give innocent men a break from their emotional girlfriends and to satisfy women's minds by giving them higher, often unrealistic, expectations. Catharsis is the process of releasing and, thus, relieving strong emotions or repressed emotions. All women experience it, even if they don't want to admit it. It is simply a way for women to release all the tension built up inside so as not to express their anger and stress towards their friends and family. What better way for a woman to use catharsis than to watch a chick flick? There is no better way. Even if the woman lacks love, friendship and does not want to be reminded that she does not have a “Prince Charming”, a chick flick remains the best solution to release these emotions.
