Essay / Characteristics of Chimpanzees - 1518
Tool use in common chimpanzees in the wild shows their ability to use their resources and their ability to modify and perform these tasks. Captive chimpanzees are very different from wild chimpanzees because of the environment in which they live. While wild chimpanzees often need to hunt for food to survive, captive chimpanzees are given food. Wild chimpanzees are generally more intelligent and more violent than captive chimpanzees due to the need to depend on themselves for survival. The culture of chimpanzees is also different depending on the environment in which they live. Similar to humans, chimpanzee behavior and traits are learned and cultural practices can vary in different environments.
