Essay / Round Table evenings. It was only after his death, when a man named William Caxton published his book in 1485, that it became known as Le Morte d'Arthur. (New Standard M-86 and L-277) In order to explain the book, I must first explain the story of King Arthur. I take you to the beginning of the tale with Arthur's father, Uther Pendragon. The story itself actually begins with Merlin, who...... middle of paper ...... between William Caxton arranged Malory's work into a single narrative in 1485. (Encarta Arthurian Legends ) I actually chose this story because I was out of ideas and came across it while looking for London landmarks in my encyclopedia. Along the way, I had found an English literature section and stopped to take a look. The authors of the volume have been kind enough to include examples of stories by time periods. I found the period I needed and discovered the legendary serial stories of Sir Thomas Malory. I also liked the idea because it was one of my favorite stories growing up. How this represents the society that created this version of woes and happiness and Arthur, and our society today, is that we all have evils that we must fight against and no matter what age you live, there is always a soap opera life waiting for you around the corner..
