Naimul Mannan 3/26/14805 SSExit Project: The Watergate Scandal DraftIn history, America has experienced ups and downs as it has progressed as a than nation. By trusting our leaders, such as our government and of course our president, we run together as a democracy and move toward a better future. But there was an incident in which a president tarnished the label of a trustworthy president. His name was Richard M. Nixon. Our 37th president was allegedly involved in the famous Watergate scandal. So the question before us is this: what was the impact of the Watergate scandal on America? Looking at things today, the Watergate scandal has proven to be a controversial event in the history of the United States. But, in the public eye, it served as a life lesson for America. Guided Question #1: What was the cause/reason for the Watergate scandal? From the beginning, it all started on June 17, 1972. Frank Willis, a security guard at the Watergate Building, located in Washington DC, discovered something that caught his attention. Apparently there was a piece of tape on the locking mechanism of the door leading to the stairwell. Growing suspicion overwhelmed the young security guard and he telephoned the Metropolitan Police. Three agents began searching the building for possible signs of an invasion. Connecting the dots, they realized that the Democratic National Committee had a reservation on the 6th floor. Using this information, the three agents went up to the sixth floor and, to their surprise, found five men in suits and surgical gloves filing documents in the office of the party's vice president, Stanley Griegg. The five were soon arrested and put to the middle of paper to create the nation we all want. And again we will face almost similar obstacles. Even if it's not quite like the Watergate scandal, humans will always make mistakes. And together, it's just a matter of how to respond to it and keep the conflict going. And as it is now (in modern times), we really need it now. We've all heard that the United States and Russia might clash at this time, but we as a country must stay strong. If our president falls, we must stay strong. Even though Watergate had a negative impact on our country, we can still take it as a good lesson for America. After all, we become stronger by making mistakes and make sure we don't make those mistakes again. Showing that the Watergate scandal had a negative effect on our nation, but that in the eyes of some, it was for the better of the nation..
