  • Essay / Professional athletes are not overpaid - 931

Professional athletes are not overpaid. Professional athletes are highly talented and determined performers with extraordinary physical abilities. They participate in various sports to entertain people and earn a living. These include basketball, football, baseball, hockey, tennis, and the list extends to any athlete paid to play. These athletes train very hard and for long hours to be the best at what they do. Fans pay to see them play because they really enjoy watching them. Like other artists, such as actors and singers, athletes receive large sums of money for their performances. Professional athletes are not overpaid for the physical and mental stress they endure doing their jobs. To begin with, fans are the ones who provide athletes with checks, they are the ones who buy tickets to see their favorite athletes compete. . If it weren't for the fans who so ardently want to see their favorite athletes perform and pay to watch them, then an athlete wouldn't get paid. They entertain people by putting on a good show, and the greater the demand for a particular sport, the more the players get paid. They also make millions for the franchises or teams they work for, so it's only fair that they get paid that much. The better a player or athlete is, the more they are worth. Professional athletes may have big salaries, but they also have hefty medical bills. For example, many athletes experience head injuries that may require surgery. To fix this problem without insurance, you would pay around forty thousand dollars, and that doesn't take into account therapy (Anonymous par. 6). Additionally, professional athletes are also taxed more than other people. Not only are they taxed in their home state or city,...... middle of paper...... ports. Internet. December 2, 2013.
