  • Essay / Technological Advances Caused by World War II

One of the most recognized technological advances in plans during World War I and II is the Blitzberg Plan. The era of World War II was a time of change. Many technological advances took place during this time. These advances can be classified into three categories. These are advances in weapons, advances in vehicles and strategic advances. This technology would forever change the face of warfare. The first category, advances in weapons, is a very important category. Before the war, weapons were constantly changing. Weapons from World War I were obsolete. They became more and more precise and able to cover longer distances. During World War I, the average soldier carried a bolt-action rifle. Bolt-action rifles are accurate; however, they take a while to recharge. After each shot you must reload. This wouldn't work in World War II. During World War II, the average soldier carried either a semi-automatic rifle or some sort of machine gun. This would lead to bloodier battles with more casualties and injuries. The primitive machine guns of World War I were faster, more accurate, smaller, and lighter to carry. Small explosives, such as grenades, have been made deadlier and more reliable. Anti-tank weapons were not well developed at the start of the war. It is for this reason that the German tank blitzkrieg was so successful. Anti-tank weapons had to be made to prevent Germany from winning the war. Soldiers began carrying high-powered rifles with armor-piercing bullets and bazookas, which worked. Some anti-tank guns were carried behind other vehicles. These became very effective against tanks. Torpedoes have become more effective. They could now be aimed accurately and used in shallow water. This technology has changed flying forever. Things like microwaves, plastics, and computers were developed in the 1940s. The first successful helicopter flight also took place in 1940. Radio was also very new at this time. The first electron microscope was developed in the 1940s. World War II was not just a period of military technological change. Technology has evolved rapidly in all areas. The technological advances of World War II were considerable. These advances had a great influence, not only during the war, but also in future ideas and technological developments. Much can be attributed to World War II technology. These advances probably changed the outcome of World War II, but they also changed warfare forever..
