What comes to mind if someone mentions an artist or an athlete? People think about their lavish lifestyle and their salaries are excessive. Many say that athletes and artists live in a carefree world thanks to all the money they earn and that their work is not that difficult to do. Although some say that people who contribute to society don't make money like artists and athletes do, because of all the extravagant amounts of money they make, consumers should pay more. I think artists and athletes should get high salaries because they worked hard to get there, donated freely to charity, and society helps them get high salaries. This may be true; people like the President of the United States and doctors don't make a fraction of what a celebrity makes in a movie. Many will say that people in a job like that of a doctor who saves lives every day should be paid more. Similarly, the President of the United States only earns $400,000 a year. Compared to an actor who works on a film for six months straight, he gets paid millions of dollars. Another argument I've come across is that some say teachers should work eight hours a day, five days a week, and ten months a year. Teachers are important because they reach out to children and prepare them for life. On the other hand, society considers a football player to be there for entertainment purposes only. People consider that a teacher only makes $40,000 a year, while a football player makes over forty million. First, I think entertainment athletes get paid so much because they deserve it. An actor isn't going to wake up one day and say, "I think I'm going to be a top actor... middle of paper... estimated at fifteen billion dollars." So giving him eighty million, I think is a reasonable amount, considering the total profit was huge. Finally, I feel like movie stars and major league athletes are always on the wrong end of the stick when it comes to how much money they make, even though the important people, like doctors and even the President of the United States, don't earn as much as the stars. Now everyone in life has the choice to be what they want to be in life, many people should research the criteria and salaries before getting angry because a certain person earns more money than another.
