Is life really about money, expensive jewelry and fast, shiny cars? Or having a group of loving and caring friends and family? Today, everyone defines and seeks happiness in a different way. Many people usually seek happiness in money, material goods and meaningless relationships. None of the things mentioned lead to happiness alone. This is a problem in our society; everyone is in the “pursuit of happiness”, but what if we don’t know the right way to pursue it? Philosophers and researchers have always wondered about the meaning of happiness. Various researchers have studied a person's behaviors after an action to determine their level of happiness. Despite all the research done, there are very few studies that examine the true meaning of happiness. Humans invest a huge amount of time in their “pursuit of happiness,” so the meaning of happiness needs more research. This article will explore the meaning of happiness and how various things affect a person's happiness. Unfortunately, the world is a very unhappy place, full of violence and suffering. Every day, the news reports a senseless act of violence or an innocent death. Money seems to be one of the main causes of unhappiness across the world. For as long as money has existed, owning a large sum of money has been the pursuit of many people around the world. Many people are convinced that happiness can only be bought by being rich. However, when most people think about how money could change their happiness, they usually think about spending more time with family or not having to worry about paying their bills for the month. In many cases, companionate love often leads to marriage, which many people consider one of the main reasons for their happiness. Focusing on the illusion that happiness can be sought from just one thing is clearly not realistic. Happiness is a very complex feeling to explain, because no two people feel the same way about everything. If a survey asked each person to rate their happiness on a scale of 1 to 10, how many people do you think would score a perfect 10? Based on the research done on the subject, it is very unlikely that many people are. As stated in the Declaration of Independence, every American has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, many people focus on being happy in the future and worry about the future, to the point where they forget to stop and be happy..
