Essay / Contrast between love and violence in Shakespeare's play...
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon during the time of Elizabeth I. Romeo and Juliet is one of his plays the most famous and has always been extremely popular among the general public. and in contemporary media, mainly because the ideals and issues discussed in the play are still very valid in modern times. The play revolves around the aptly named Romeo and Juliet and their forbidden love and struggle to love with each other families, Capulets and Montagues, arguing with each other, under the romance, it is the story of a plan that goes wrong. I will analyze and interpret how two very contrasting things; love and violence are linked to each other in the play, the effect they have on the characters and the events that take place. In Scene 1, Act 1, William Shakespeare establishes the feud between the Capulets (Juliet's family) and the Montagues (Romeo's family), this is the very first proper scene of the play, excluding the prologue of the play, and it opens with violence. This scene establishes the fact that this is a feud and not a small disagreement right off the bat as Sampson and Gregory discuss how to deal with the Montagues if they cause trouble, stating things like : “On my word, we will not file a complaint. coals. » Saying that they will not accept any insults, Sampson also states in the first scene: "In case of anger, we will cast lots." This means that if they are angry, they will draw their swords. Another notable thing said during this conversation is when Gregory says, "You are not driven to strike quickly." Taking what Sampson says and twisting it to make it seem like he's not quick enough to act against the Montagues, perhaps trying to trigger him in the event of a fight. Other things that make this seem like a war in progress... ...middle of paper......the law only breeds conflict and it's their fault that two lovers are dead, they realize that they have indirectly caused the death of a member of their own family and this makes them see that their quarrel will not solve anything, the violence led to tragedy and death but it also led to the resolution and preservation of the lives, deaths of Romeo and Juliet, a tragedy, but the resolution of the feud and the preservation of the Montagues and the Capulets. The contrast between love and violence deeply affected the characters to the extent that they realized that love can lead to violence and their violence led to the death of love, when Romeo was fighting he fought for love, not love. anger or a need for violence. Perhaps what Shakespeare was trying to say is that although love and violence are two very different things, sometimes they only cause trouble..
