    Scientific ManagementThis essay will critically evaluate the importance of scientific management and its contribution in the current management context. In this era of rapid economic development and industrial expansion of different nations, scientific management has made it possible for every nation to get involved in this global market. Scientific management is the theory that serves as the “backbone” of many current management theories. Scientific management will be briefly described first. After that, the essay will identify why scientific management is an important contribution to management theory when Frederick Taylor proposed it. Finally, the essay will examine why scientific management continues to be important in this rapidly changing business world. According to Bartol, Tein, Matthews, and Sharma (2008, p. 43), scientific management is one of the management approaches from the classical point of view. Scientific management is an approach that emphasizes the scientific study of work methods to improve worker efficiency (Bartol et al, 2008, p. 43). Each process of the activities such as manufacturing process is sorted into smaller processes and will be scientifically studied and researched so that the process can be followed effectively in terms of saving time and reducing cost and waste . Basically, scientific management is based on four main principles which are the scientific study of each task, scientific selection of the worker, cooperation with the worker and scientific division of labor (Bartol et al, 2008, p. 43). Each task is scientifically studied through various experiments and tests. The experiments are carried out to evaluate what are the best solutions and solutions so that the task can be carried out efficiently amidst paper documents, costs and time. Management methods proposed by various theorists were mostly based on Taylor's ideas.
