Essay / A Comparison of a Spiritual Journey - 833
A spiritual journey is one that we may or may not see coming. God works in mysterious ways and He knows how each of us thinks and reacts because He created us in His image. This is why each individual has their own personalized way of seeing God come to them. For example, when Frodo, the main character of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, was called to embark on this quest by Gandalf – his mentor or guide – he was caught off guard; he wasn't ready to leave at all. God came to Frodo through someone he trusted so that Frodo would accept his call; he would do anything for his friends. This is similar to that of Paul's appeal in Acts 22. Paul had persecuted Jesus from synagogue to synagogue before he rode on a camel one day, and a bright, flashing light blinded him. His companions could see the light but could not hear his voice and Jesus told Paul to preach about their encounter; to spread the Word of God. In contrast, Jeremiah's call in Jeremiah 1 was not a call out of surprise but a call of incapacity. Jeremiah thought he was too young and inexperienced to undertake such a journey, a journey he was easily capable of making. The journey is filled with trials and tribulations that are meant to trip us up, physically and mentally. For example, in the film, Boromir succumbs to the power of the Ring when he lets his pride get the better of him. Boromir believes that the Ring would be better used in his hands as it is stronger and better than Frodo. Ultimately, this low point for Boromir constitutes his turning point and allows him to sacrifice himself to save Merry and Pippin. These trials are meant to trip us up so that we can realize the power of our faith in the Lord and strengthen that bond so...... middle of paper ...... moving for my entire high school career and take a second to think, it's scary! It causes anxiety because I feel like every moment I spend focusing on myself, whether it's watching a movie, looking at the stars, going swimming, or even just running, is wasted time that I could use doing homework or volunteering. my time somewhere. I want to live in a place without anxiety, without reality crashing down on me. So I started asking for help. Every day, after my sports session, I do yoga to decompress and relax. Now I have started using this time to pray. I asked the Lord to give me the patience and endurance to juggle all of my commitments and to give me enough time to connect with Him. I haven't received a definitive answer yet, but right now I'm still wandering with open arms, waiting for Him to embrace me..
