Essay / Stereotypes of Westerners - 1333
A Mad WorldIn the modern world, people tremble at the mere thought of radical jihadists, or terrorists, when they try to live their normal lives. Making strange eye contact with those who wear turbans or are of Arab origin. Isolating them from society and making hateful comments towards their people. But the people of the Western world never recognize what could be behind these attacks. Westerners call them terrorists, they present themselves as freedom fighters; people argue both ways on this topic. September 11 is just one of many effective displays of terror they can provoke among Western powers. Islam also has some interesting teachings, which turn some people into fanatics or zealots; pushing them to commit such atrocities. Islamic fundamentalism is the bad idea of mixing religion and politics, resulting in dictators who hate the United States and most likely secretly support Al-Qaeda. This leads the West to generalize the Arab population by considering them as simple, senseless terrorists. The attacks on the embassy in Benghazi, another shattering display of power. America pretends they are no problem, thinking that because they are a superpower they can handle anything the world can throw at them; This is no laughing matter as American officials think. Red Letter Day, September 11, a moot point in this ongoing debate, is nothing less than an example of Western troubles; The September 11 attacks demonstrated the power and influence of this organization. There is no doubt that terrorist attacks occur daily; Civilization as we know it assumes that they are crazy or just downright idiotic, while others might argue that they have a logical reason for doing so. (Personal example) On the morning of September 11, 2011, a normal c...... middle of paper in the United States. .....o turn to these terrorist groups and even volunteer to attack the West to teach them a lesson about their biased views. There are many reasons why people commit misdeeds, the ones listed above are just a few of many that cause Islamists to snap. From September 11 to Benghazi, from Islamic fundamentalism to daily stereotypes; all have logical reasoning for the attack and the damage it causes. Islamists currently feel displaced in the world, attacked by the West which demands more and more of their resources. America does nothing to help these people and, on the contrary, they feel oppressed in their own country and even in their own homes. How can America even call itself a liberator if it is truly the oppressor of this world? Works cited by Ron Paul “2011 Iowa Republican Debate” CNN Political News, December 10, 2011, November 9 2013
