Essay / The American Diet - 1016
The health status of Americans in the United States has become a growing concern for many Americans. An article titled "11 Facts About American Eating Habits" discusses the state of diet in the United States, stating: "The safety of the foods we eat declines by 1.7 percent for every hour that passes in the day." . » American experts and scientists have raised questions about the different ways food is currently produced. Even though individuals are generally unaware of the ingredients in foods, many people continue to have poor eating habits. In recent decades, food production has incorporated many artificial ingredients that are believed to cause various health problems. Various artificial ingredients commonly used in the American diet include hormones and steroids. The main problems facing the modern food industry include food contamination, hormonal imbalances and obesity. Although there are many negative aspects of the American diet, there are ways to reduce the problems that arise in the diet. Many people are unaware of the ingredients that foods contain, and as a result, various problems arise among Americans. With all the processed foods tied to the American diet, fast foods and preservatives seem to be very popular. According to author Christine Buck, it has been claimed that processed foods are made up of salt, fat and sugar, making the human body more addictive to this substance (KPLR11). Salt, fat and sugar all play different roles in food production. While salt makes sugar sweeter, fat is what gives sugar twice as much flavor and makes food taste better. Companies are middle of paper conscious, generally aware of minor changes that could have a big impact on a person's health, and without a good understanding of how certain foods can alter the brain and body, the choices of a person can have a negative or positive impact.
