  • Essay / Four Contributions of Erickson's Early Theory...

Erickson's theory can explain some of my own personal problems and insecurities, and so I can see the importance of the theory on the individual . With Piaget's theory, it seems obvious to me that children see things differently depending on the stages of their lives. However, since we usually take step-wise changes for granted, I found it interesting to see them presented in each of the particular steps, as shown in the video. This shows the importance of helping children see things differently. Skinner's theory is one that I use daily in my two-year-old class. We focus on the positives and try to ignore the negatives or let certain natural consequences occur. This really helps us in our potty training efforts. Vygotsky's theory is another theory that I can relate to both through my experience as a student and early childhood educator. As a student, I have found myself bored with trivial tasks quite often, and I can tell when some of my own students are bored or find a task too difficult and the negative consequences associated with it.
