Essay / Female beauty pageants - 1038
Beauty pageants seem to have no apparent purpose for societal reasons. They denigrate the image of women when it comes to gender equality. There are many different ranges of beauty pageants all over the world. Females can be as small as 2 months old. Many girls dream of becoming Miss USA or Miss World. This seems to convey the idea that one must be beautiful and live up to the judges' expectations of how a beauty queen should act and what she looks like. They have a negative effect on people in today's society, especially the younger female population. Women can develop insecurity issues and a lack of self-confidence because they haven't won a pageant and don't feel "beautiful" like the title of a "beauty" contest. Female children's beauty pageants, such as the TV show "Toddlers and Tiaras", are a bad influence on young girls. The show more or more is a reality TV show featuring young girls aged just 3 months and over. Truly, it poisons their brains. Not only do they poison the brains of young children, but they teach them that facial and body image are essential. This does not help young girls' self-esteem; it harms them morally in the real sense that they are real people who are being taught that appearance is important. There are other activities to develop a child's self-esteem, other than beauty pageants, as parents believe; such as dance, sports or theater classes. Especially younger children, who are influenced more quickly, learn to be more beautiful on the outside than on the inside. For example, many girls featured on the show and in local beauty pageants typically tan, wear wigs, wear false eyelashes, false nails, and makeup. What does this teach them? It is morally wrong for such a young girl to add anything that is beneficial for her future. Most women participate in beauty pageants to raise money to meet their financial needs. Beauty pageants can be helpful in developing communication skills, confidence and personal success. Mainly, female beauty pageants serve no purpose in society. They put a lot of emphasis on the “beauty” of the pageant. They downplay the fact that young women are products and not real people with flaws. Teaching the younger generation of women that true beauty lies within is what our goal in America should be. htmlhttp://thepageantexpert.com/post/What-Are-The-Benefits-Of-Beauty-Pageants.aspxhttp://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/famous/ramsey/attack_3.htmlhttp:// bb-articles.com/beauty-pageants-do-they-have-a-place-in-modern-society/
