Technology is used by many people in our society today. Technology is very useful, but it can also take control of our lives. In these five short stories and films they talked a lot about technology. These short stories and films include Technology Can Push Our Buttons, There Will Come Soft Rains, Harrison Bergeron, The Pedestrian and Wall-e. In these short stories and films, the message among all is similar. For example, in The Pedestrian and Wall-e, the message of both films is that society can be taken over by technology. In The Pedestrian there is a man named Leonard, he is the only one not brainwashed by technology and electronics. While everyone watches TV, Leonard goes for a walk to get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the beautiful evening. Later, while Leonard is walking, he is stopped by a police car. There was something strange about the police car... It was electronic! There was no one inside. Leonard was asked why he goes for walks. Getting stopped by an electronic police car because you're going for a walk is not good. Leonard was the only one enjoying life, everyone else wanted to be stuck inside watching TV all the time. Also in Wall-e everyone is controlled by electronics. For example, everyone is sitting on floating chairs in some sort of utopia in space. People there are overweight and literally have everything put back on them. Everything is electronic and technological. They have advertisements that appear every second on the screens surrounding their faces. On the other hand, Wall-e is the only one who still cares about life and living beings. People depend on technology and that is very helpful, but if it gets to the point where our lives are taken over, it becomes unhealthy, for example in technology... ... middle of paper...... 9.
