    Can a body wash make you a man? Old Spice certainly has the answer and they're not afraid to let it be known either. Old Spice released the soon-to-be-viral “Questions” commercial in mid-2010 on its official YouTube channel, teasing this very question. The ad mockingly stereotypes certain aspects of manhood while asking viewers, both men and women, to rate the manhood of their man or themselves. Although "Questions" does little to describe the product it is advertising, it proves its merit as an effective advertisement because it hits all three strings of persuasion; it tickles our love of humor while establishing a mental connection between the product and manhood using perfect language. virile specimen to convey these points. Our towel-clad heartthrob, Isaiah Mustafa, begins the commercial in what appears to be a shower station on a beautiful beach. The backdrop splits vertically in the center and moves away from Mustafa to reveal him rolling away seconds before. he walks on the surface of a still lake while catching a falling cake and entering a kitchen where he saws a counter with his remaining free hand until he finally leaves the saw behind and drops the cake before arriving at a stops at the top of a waterfall. He then dives off the water cliff into a bubbling hot tub, which then peels away to reveal Mustafa driving a motorcycle with no problem and performed the entire skit perfectly while maintaining a stern focus on the camera. As we follow Mustafa through his transitions, he addresses the female viewers and asks them questions, strongly implying that if their man used Old Spice body wash, then he might look more like Isaiah Mustafa. In his skit, the questions asked by Mustafa are intended to exagg...... middle of paper ......his provided the company with an Internet sensation that not only builds and sells its brand, but also makes laughs at his viewers, questions himself and offers consumers a sympathetic image and an authority figure to trust in matters of virility. After analyzing every ingredient that Old Spice threw into their manly cauldron of advertising, it's no wonder they were able to take the internet by storm.
