In recent years, the public has become increasingly vocal about environmental issues through social media and increasing numbers of street protests, putting pressure on policymakers. It is difficult for the Chinese government to find a balance where the environmental consciousness of the population increases and there is massive pressure for better quality of life and improved urbanization.
