  • Essay / Christianity and Non-Christians - 944

I grew up in a family that did not attend church and did not believe in God. During my sophomore year of high school, I attended youth group where I met my Savior, and the year before, so did my brother. Six years later, my brother and I are still the only ones following Christ in my family. Being part of a mixed religion household, I decided to delve deeper into my mother's spiritual life to find out what she really believes. I started by asking the fundamental question: do you believe there is a God? My mother grew up in the Hindu faith, so I expected her to say yes; knowing in advance that Hinduism is a polytheistic religion believing in several gods. My mother's response was, "Yes, although I don't know what his name is." » The second question I asked was: "How would you characterize your relationship with God and Jesus Christ?" What factors contribute to such a view? My mother responded by saying, “My relationship with God is very spiritual and personal, as well as being based on my Hindu upbringing. » When my mother was a child, she attended a Church of England school and as a result was baptized and took communion, but she maintained her Hindu beliefs. She also informed me that the Hindu religion accepts Jesus as a reincarnation of God and so she did not feel conflicted when going to school and singing Christian hymns. His final thoughts on this issue were: “Hinduism is a very inclusive religion and this was reinforced in me when I read and watched the Gandhi biopic. I also believe that God is very forgiving and loving. » The next question I asked was: “Let's assume for a moment that God is real. What do you think are the top three questions you would ask God? » The first question... middle of paper ...... who, “Maybe you are the only ones who read the Bible” finally became a real reality. At the beginning of my walk with God, I was so frustrated that I had a family that did not support what I believed in, but now I am grateful for the family that God placed me in. I have clung to a promise in God's word that says, "As surely as I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow before me, and every tongue shall confess and praise God. " (New Living Translation, Rom. 4:11). I believe I will see salvation happen in my family, and after talking to Mom, I have never wanted it more. Knowing now that this is the point view she has on the church and Christians destroys me, but I know that God will use me to speak about life and shine his light. I fully believe that in my lifetime, my family will know Christ, and. I can take joy and comfort in proclaiming that I will see each of them in heaven.
